Deja View: Old Movies Made New for 2010

Some things never go out of style: leather jackets, little black dresses, laughter and good stories. Hollywood knows this, and its denizens are experts on what to wear, when to wear it, and when to air it again. Mining old clothes for new appeal can be risky, though, and the same hazard applies when directors decide to re-make classic films. Will they succeed like perennially cool denim and plaid or tank like bell bottoms? Only time and audiences will tell whether the following 10 movies will be worth the redo…

Predator

With Arnold Schwarzenegger busy overseeing California’s economic demise, makers of a re-vamped Predator have turned to Adrian Brody to introduce this thriller to a new generation of alien prey. As in the first film, an extraterrestrial predator is on the hunt, and only one commando can stop it. Coming this summer. (credit: 20th Century Fox)

Who was the slacker who wrote this article. I saw a sneak peak of this film and it is not a remake. It is a sequel taking place on a game preserve planet with multiple predators, hence the actual title, Predators. And not to worry, Lawrence Fishburne was way more prominent than Adrian Brody.

I say the same thing. Are you kidding me? Adrian Brody fighting off a Predator. Whatever. I'm sorry, but I don't think so. Lawrence I could see, but not Adrian. He's just to skinny and whimpy looking to me. I doubt he could even kick ass.

What were they thinking?

Looks Good Actually...

Just saw the trailer. Looks very good. Yes, it is basically a sequel, but parts of it are similar to the original movie with its jungle sets. And, Adrian Brody looks okay in it - actually buffed up a bit. They probably cast him because he is so UNlike old Arnold. Overall, looks good. Personally, I'd rather see another Aliens Vs. Predators film...

Well it can't be worst than Brody's the Village. Now there is a movie that needed a visit from the Predators. Why can't Hollywood get action stars that actually look the part. No offence to Brody but action-man does not come to mind. Yet he was great in the Jacket. Yet my problem in the recent films is that the Predators have lost that lanky, streamlined athletic look that Kevin Peter Hall brought to the original. That would be nice.
