When Marion Mitchell Morrison starred in 1930's The Big Trail, director Raoul Walsh decided to credit him as ''Anthony Wayne.'' However, Fox Studios chief Winfield Sheehan thought the name sounded too Italian, and instead suggested ''John Wayne.'' With that, one of America's most iconic film stars was born. When I was just kid I remember watching John Wayne moives and in every movie you know it was going move you in some way. He was like a big brother,father, uncle. It was true action not like it is today crap.

He was the best of the Best. I remember watching movies with my dad and John Wayne was his favorite.Especially in western movies he was and will always remain "THE DUKE"

It's too bad that he was racist towards the American Indians.
He was not a racist - as you say - these were the movie scrips describing how American were at the time.

John Wayne was a great actor....But he did nothing to promote "The ethical treatment of women"...He had a huge following of "men" that thought they could push women around....Like he did Maureen Ohara in the " Quiet Man".....A lot of his movies were examples of how NOT to treat a Lady.......
suck it up princess they were movie scripts not real life...give your head a shake.
