            Top 11 Coolest Canuck Films

They haven't all won Genie Awards, though many of them have. But our highly (HIGHLY) subjective list of coolest-ever Canuck films shows that when it comes to movie-making - be it drama, comedy or creep-fest - the Great White North is second to none. These cinematic gems listed in order of most recently released push the cool meter into the red.

Canada is absolutely the best country in the world. But please leave religion out of the discussion. We don't have Canada Day to celebrate 2000 years of murder, lies, and general stupidity.

            Huh?
            Pauline Kael
Which talent agent was put up to write this drivel? Some are really solid picks, but Passchendaele? Cool? Don't be ridiculous. Whoever wrote this should at least be identified. The Silent Partner definitely belongs on this list. The Sweet Hereafter? Like watching paint dry.

Funny and appropriate, if anyone wrote this for me I would risk having to go back to make-up and kick some butt.
I will be opening the news cast tonight with this story, Canada Day celebrations marred by pompous jerks.

            Spotlight on: Kim Cattrall
Even if Sex and the City had never happened, British born, B.C.-reared Canadian actress Kim Cattrall would go down as one of the most prolific, versatile and successful actors ever.
            Spotlight On: Sarah Polley
Toronto native Sarah Polley is a director's actor - expressive, daring, gifted and less motivated by potential box office glory than by quality stories told well.
            Spotlight On: Jim Carrey
Many people's first glimpse of Newmarket, Ontario-born comedian Jim Carrey was on the small screen in the 1990s where he busted out as a rubber-faced character actor on the Wayans Brothers sketch comedy series In Living Color.
            Spotlight On: Brendan Fraser
American-born Canadian actor Brendan Fraser is that rarest of creatures - a flat-out hottie who can actually act.
            Spotlight On: Keanu Reeves
Yes, he was born in Lebanon. But peripatetic Canadian-American actor Keanu Reeves was mostly raised in Toronto - even attending the Etobicoke School of the Arts - and has maintained ties with the Great White North throughout his career.
            Spotlight On: Mike Myers
The pride of Scarborough, ON has seen dizzying career highs and - to paraphrase one of his most famous characters, Wayne Campbell - hurl-inducing lows.
            Spotlight on James Cameron
As James Cameron's Avatar continues to rule the box office, we look back at the Canadian director's outstanding career.
            Spotlight On: Pamela Anderson
Sometimes dismissed as a bimbo, a closer look at the career of B.C.-reared Pamela Anderson reveals a versatile actress.
