The Most Inspiring Movies of All-Time

In Extraordinary Measures, Brendan Fraser plays a corporate executive who, against all odds, raises $100 million in the off-chance that it might lead to a cure for the rare disease which threatens the lives of his two children.  Here’s a selection of similarly inspiring movies about people who overcome great odds to achieve what most would consider impossible.

            What movies have inspired you?

Most Inspiring Movies of All Time

No list of this type would be complete without the inclusion of 2005's "Cinderella Man", a depression era "Rocky" tale about boxer James J. Braddock. He overcame debilitating injuries to wrest the World Championship from heavily favoured Max Baer. His chief incentive was not fame and glory but a way to support his impoverished family. A proud man, loath to accept welfare, he used parts of his championship and subsequent purses to repay the government and support many worthy causes.

            Dump 8Mile
            John Thompson
Had to see 8 Mile.... Yawn. Dump it. Put in Cinderalla Man... never understood the Depression and its effect on parents and grandparents till I saw that film.

Rocky? It is to laugh... just maybe if it hadn't spawned all those sequels. If there must be a sports theme, use Sea Biscuit.

            The Green Mile is good.
